NOTE:
P.S.V. EINDHOVEN (NED) - F.C. CHEMIE HALLE (GDR) +:- (3-0)
The return match was not played because of the withdrawal of the F.C. Chemie Halle after a hotel fire in the night from September 28 to 29, 1971 in Eindhoven. The young forward Wolfgang Hoffmann was killed in this tragedy and other players from the F.C. Chemie were seriously injured that night but some of them helped other guests of the «Silveren Seepaerd» hotel to get rescued.
